ABOUT ME

I got my first (traditional) Siamese cat called Prince when I was 8 years old and still living in South Africa. A year later, my parents bought me a female Siamese and my parents decided to have a couple of litters. 7 Years later we brought them back with us when we moved back to Belgium and they lived with us until they were 17 and 18 years old.

In 2004 I started breeding Abyssinians and learnt a lot (from trial and error), but since the Abyssinian is generally not a very healthy breed and because it is so hard to find fresh blood for healthier lines (more inbreeding), I finally decided to have both my females sterilised after yet another difficult labour.

Then, both our old Siamese passed away in the same year (apparently they couldn't live without one another) and my mother and sister were left with just 1 lonely cat.

I missed breeding and all the joys that come with having kittens in the house, and I was determined to find the perfect breed to start over with. And then I came across the Tonkinese: a healthy, beautiful breed with a strong and superb personality and exceeding intelligence.

I still loved the Siamese's personality, but personally I tend to prefer the traditional Siamese's appearance to the new Siamese's sharper features, so this was a logical next step. The Tonkinese combines both breeds' best features and because new bloodlines can easily be created, there is hardly no inbreeding and consequently, much fewer health problems.

We have always bred small-scale with a limited amount of pets, so that we can keep giving each one of them the care and attention it needs. When one of our cats retires, we don't give them away, since we still mainly have cats for their company, not for their reproductive organs. All our cats live indoors with the rest of the family, are very sociable and are given superflous love and the best of care. Kittens stay with us for at least 12 weeks and go to their new homes well mannered (i.e. potty trained, but still full of mischief), non-traumatised, with pedigree, chipped, and fully vaccinated.
